I wanted to have the image (or images) from the Worldwide Photo Walk ready and published in the previous post, but it was not possible due to several circumstances, like the family visit. Finally managed to select a couple of candidates but only one actually was telling something. This one:
Not true, the other ones were telling me more than this one, they were telling me I need to practice and study MORE!!! But this message apart, the image above is what I would save from the rainy photo walk (or photo swim, as I sometimes describe it 🙂 ).
The deadline for submission to the contest associated to the photo walk was on Monday. Unfortunately I made a mess with the AM/PM and instead of being midnight, it was noon … in Florida … so sat calmly in the evening thinking “I have until morning to submit!” (around 6 hours of difference) and turns out it was until 18:00 European time … so when I was done it was already closed … blah. Anyway, this is not the purpose of the thing, but I love books!!!!
One more lesson learned!! Be careful with the time on a deadline!!
On the image first the Lightroom treatment with the basic noise reduction, lens correction, basic sharpening, white balance. The “pre-processing”, as I like to call it. Than comes a little tone work, a bit of light here, a bit of darkening there and take it to Photomatix. A one shot tone-mapping. It works fine! It’s not the same as a 3-5-7 shots tone-mapping, but it gives the image a nice touch.
After tone-mapping back to Lightroom with some more noise reduction and sharpening and back to Photoshop for the “framing”.
Not much, but a nice touch! BTW, this was the last shot of the day, from the restaurant where the post-walk meeting was supposed to happen! Never pack your camera until you’re home!
