Still not in position to put a shot of mine here, but there it goes.
During the year I’ve seen this amazing shot all over, specially in Google+, where I have most of my photographic input. Got very impressed at it, but didn’t really marked the photographer’s name. Just that it was a Polish one.
This week, while reading an older issue of the british magazine “Digital SLR Photography” (which I make a point of buying every time I fly thru Heathrow or get a friend doing it) I bumped again into it. This time it had all information about the shot and the photographer, Marcin Ryczek! Bingo!
The EXIF of the shot is meaningless, but the author’s description is gold. According to Marcin, he was walking around and saw the scenario: dark water with white swans and white snow with a straight border … Just needed to wait for the final element to come into place, a person in dark that would attract the swans! When that happened, SHABANG (as Peter Hurley would say), there was a great shot! One that stays in your mind for a long long time.
I’ve heard this advice several times, specially concerning travel photography, “find the stage and wait for the actors to come into place”. Once again it has worked!
What was your favorite shot in 2013?
