Last weekend was the Help-Portrait 2015 and the Munich team went to the Deutschen Herzzentrum!
Help-Portrait is an initiative created by Jeremy Cowart and the idea is “Find someone in need, take their picture, print their picture, deliver their picture”.
The concept behind is the power of photography. It’s amazing how people are touched by a nicely made picture, so we gather professionals from the area, photographers, make up artists, retouchers, … and give our subjects professional attention and that touches their lives in their moment of need, and touches our lives, for being able to give something back.
Since 2011 this Munich team goes to the Ronald McDonald Haus in the Deutschen Herzzentrum (German Heart center).
We photograph the patients in the hospital stations and the families, specially the ones being hosted by the Ronald McDonald Haus. The Ronald McDonald Haus receives families from out of town, in their need for assistance for having someone in care at the hospital, and more often than not are kids being treated.
Help-Portrait gives you the opportunity to give something for people in need, but more than anything, helps you put yourself into perspective. Do you know this big problem you have, that makes you feel like everything is terrible? After you leave an intense day like we had last saturday, it’s all gone … you’ve just glad to have brought a smile in the face of people that are really suffering and thankful for being healthy and having a very healthy and loving family.
I want to thank the organization for allowing me in (the non-professional guy that once got a camera 😉 ) and to help. Thanks Carmen and Ingo Photography, Jules Heim, Jürgen Kappelmeier Fotografie, Die Foto Fee, Susanne Wysocki, Kitty Fried Photography, Marina Scholze, Natürlich Fotografie and all the other people that could not show up, but helped behind the scene! Also all the people from the Ronald McDonald Haus for letting us in!
If you want to help! Let us know! Hands are always welcome!!
